Challenger

Where were you 20 years ago when the Challenger disaster occurred? I remember where I was. 4th grad in Ms. Jackson's class. We got to watch the launch live on TV. How did I feel when it happened? I was confused. Wondering what was going on. The teacher didn't know exactly how to react. I knew that something was wrong since I had seen several other successful shuttle launches. This one was obviously different.

Everyone figured out that something bad happened as the rocket boosters continued on without the space shuttle. The TV feed went black after a minute or minute and a half after the accident.

Wow, 20 years...I'm getting old.

Electrical Issues

Luckily, not for me at home. However....

So I get to work at 6:00 AM today to run one of our applications. I know it takes a long time for it to load, that's why I got there so early. About 2.5 hours into it, the power flickers. Lights stay on, but all the sudden, all the servers go down. So my application stops running (oh joy). Turns out someone cut a wire, which wasn't a big thing initially, but probably sent a surge throughout, affecting all the servers. I wonder if the person that did it was quitting today and this was his final FU.

Electricity for the MetroRail was also out. Power outage. They have partial power now, but it's not completely running. Oh well....

Craptastic

Guess what...I got a speeding ticket today. I think it's been the 1st ticket I've had in the last 6+ years.

I was trying to pass an 18 wheeler and then all the sudden I see a guy walk into the road. Of course it was a constable. Got busted going 61 in a 45. What gets me is where I have to go to court. I was pulled over on the Beltway 8 feeder road, going northbound, just south of Tanner Road. The courthouse I have to go to is on Chimney Rock and Gulfton, even though there is a courthouse on Clay, just west of Highway 6 (which is much closer).

The map below shows where I got pulled over (in red), where the courthouse is closest to where I got pulled over (in blue), and where the courthouse I have to go to is (in black).

Damn...
